I run first thing in the morning. If I didn’t, I’d find some reason not to go. I have to do it while I’m asleep

Call it “holiday pounds” or the “off season” or whatever, the fact is that I’ve done next to no routine training of any kind for a month or so. Yeah, I’ve gone on the odd run and done a handful of sit-ups, but I’ve found budgeting my time for training next to impossible during the holiday season. Well, it’s over now and I don’t have any excuses except getting the (butter)ball rolling again can be a bit of an effort.

I’m a bit anxious about my lack of training because I have Chinese New year approaching rapidly, and I need to get fit quick, otherwise O’l black lion might need a breather mid show.

Also, in just a couple months (April 25th, to be specific), Adventure race season starts up again.

Then the 5 Boro bike tour is a favorite of ours…

and before you know it, it’s Urbanathlon time again.

Plus everything in between. So, I got myself a little runner’s calendar to keep me in check and track just how much I can sweat off in the precious few weeks I have, as the rest of my comrades have been doing for at least 2 months. yeah, it should be humbling. I’m getting out of breath just typing about it.

Simply Overwhelmed.

I do realize that it’s been ever so long of me to update, made more painful by following up an exciting and successful contest and promises of content updates. First and foremost, all those promises stand.
Secondly, one might derive from Autokinesis‘ static nature of late that there’s nothing going on, and that’s way off the mark as well. If anything I’ve been unbelievably busy with both Auto related stuff as well as personal obligations, all of which would amount to blog upon blog, but the sad truth is I’ve been far too tired and too busy to write a thing. anything. even things I get paid for, let alone a blog.

Ok, bullet point news time:

  • The U.S. Auto industry and what’ been happening. I’ve been following this closely as I’m sure you all have been, and plan to summarize what I’ve learned so far about the drama that’s unfolded, and to give you a bit of insight from a market analyst that I had the privilege to hear speak of the situation a month ago. We’ll compare his predictions and information to what has transpired since then.
  • 2010 Mustang. As an example of “too much to say, too little time,” I actually wrote a “Knee Jerk Reaction” to it, but having failed to finalize the piece, it’s no longer relevant. Nature of the beast, I suppose. Lesson learned.
  • I showed Dan Carlin my Halloween costume.
  • Vanderbilt cup. V-cup, V-cup, V-Cup. yes, I blogged about the Autocross, but I neglected to blog about the actual event. my excuses are thus: The centennial celebration was the day immediately after the Men’s Health Chicago Ubanathlon Mel and I ran, so I was not only physically wrecked, but I ended up being a flag marshal which didn’t allow for much exploration and immersion. I had a great spot, though, for the important stuff, and trust me that stuff did happen.
  • The Vigilant Monkey is primming and grooming himself to be revealed in a surprisingly short time. It’s almost frightening to think that it’s around the corner. so much to do!
  • Speaking of, with VM getting the bulk of my test drive prose, I plan to still write independent views for this site, but expect it to be slightly more..let’s say, raw than the VM article (or for whomever I write for). Think of the blog as the “extras” or “director’s commentary” complement to the polished story, with the informal nature and peek into the inner workings.

So that’s that for now. I will have some stuff up before the new year, and you can hold me to that (or I’ll be forced to send numerous apology pies. yes, pie is a form of currency here, it seems.)

Have a Merry Christmas!!!
